| How many board feet per hour will the Quality mills cut? |
| Board feet per hour calcualtions are highly dependent on the quality of the logs being sawed. You can easily saw double your rate on big logs compared to what you can do on small logs, so advertized rates are not always helpful (or accurate). When comparing mills that are sawing similar logs the difference in the output will be dependent on the horsepower of the engine, the sharpness of the blade and the tension on the band. |
| What is the best time to visit the factory? |
| We are available 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. Just please call ahead so that we can have a mill up and running for a demo. |
| I was wondering if you handled any used mills as well? If so what?
Thank you for your time. |
| Yes, from time to time we get a used mill in and even some repo's that we buy back from the bank, maybe 4 or 5 a year at most. The best that I can tell you to do is to call the factory to find out if there are any used mills on the lot. (1-800-BANDMIL) Gary |
| How much are replacement saw bands/blades for the woodchuck.
How many boards can be cut before the need for sharpening.
Do you have a sharpening kit? |
| A Woodchuck blade is 12 feet long, and the price varies from about $15.00 to $23.00, depending on what brand you buy. A Timberwolf blade is generally a little more expensive, but we have some sawmill owners who really like them, it depends on what you are sawing.

| How many board feet you can get is a question that I try to avoid answering. It's a lot like any saw, dirty logs kill the blades, clean logs around 600 to 800 bf. Large logs maybe a little more. You can sharpen the blades 6 or 7 times if you don't run them dull and heat them up.
A sharpening system is available for $800. A very good one would run $1800. |
| Can additional sections be added to the Grizzly 30 bed to cut longer logs? If so, cost? Thanks. |
| The Grizzly 30 has a solid frame that is 24 feet long and will cut just over 20 feet. To add to the length would require some torch work. We do make a sectional frame, but they are usually shipped out of the country since they save space in the containers. Sectionals are also purchased when they need to be carried by men, horses or boat. (Most of our sectional mills are sent to Central America where they are hand carried through rough terrain). We would normally just make the frame longer right here to order, or make the frame so that it will accept an extension before it leaves here. Our customers that are building Post & Beam buildings usually order a 32-foot frame. It's about $1600. Extra. Thanks for the question,

| How do you feed the manual mills? Is
an electric feed mechanism available?
Interested in a 30" or 36" capacity
mill. |
| Manual mills are pushed down the track by the operator. It's about the same as pushing a shopping cart. We offer only hydraulic feed. It is more expensive that an electric feed, $3250.00, but electric in my opinion is troublesome in many ways. Plus the charging system on MOST small engines would never stand up to that strain. It would take at least 8hp to power an alternator to run electric feed. Gary |
| Do you sell replacement parts for the Grizzly 30? In particular, I need a new tire on the drive pulley. |
| Yes, we have them, or you can buy it locally at an auto or industrial supply store. It's a B56 belt, if you want it from us, call i-800-BANDMILL. Gary |
| I AM CONSIDERING ONE OF YOUR TRAILERABLE SAWMILLS FOR A STARTUP LUMBER OPERATION IN PENNSYLVANIA WHERE THE TIMBER IS PRIMARILY BLACK CHERRY, LOCUST AND OAK WHICH TYPE OF MILL IS BEST SUITED FOR THIS AREA? |
| I don't know what you have for a budget or the size of the logs you plan to cut. The Woodchuck is normally used by the home owner who has a side line. The grizzly 30 is the most popular for lumber production, and with a 31 HP engine, it will saw faster. Feel free to call the factory with any questions. 1-800-WOODCHUCK Gary |
| do you use a blade lubrication system on any of your mills? |
| We have lubricating systems on most mills, Bobcats, Grizzlys, and Super Grizzlys, and it is optional on the Woodchuck. I have never used it because our band guides are NOT the roller type, and they don't build up with sawdust, they naturally remove the sawdust. Gary |
| What is the smallest diameter will the mill cut..? The shortest length will it safely saw..thank you..Bobby Clifft |
| Hello Boby;
They say there is a first time for everything, and this it the first time I've ever been asked what is the smallest "diameter" that can be cut. It's a good question! All Quality sawmills will cut down to 1 inch, so you certianly can cut a 2 inch stick, or even smaller. I have an Amish family cutting small bowes for rocking chairs, on a Grizzly 30.
All of our mills will cut down to 32 inches in length.
Thank you for the questions, Bobby, Gary |
| Have you sold a mill to anyone in Northwest Indiana that I might get to saw some walnut. I have not been able to find someone to saw a semi load of walnut that was cut out of the forest when our home was built. The logs are 8-15" x 16 feet long. |
| We do not have any owners in your area. Your best bet would be to ask Woodmizer. They have the best chance of having an owner in your area. There is another option to consider - Purchase a mill and then re-sell it after you have finished the job. You could saw those logs on our Woodchuck and probably resell it for ~$500 less than the purchase price. |
| I have the board miser mill would like to up grade to hydralic log turner what parts are needed and what is the tag |
| A Board Mizer is a 24" cap. mill. It is difficult to fit a log turner in that frame, but we have done it a number of times. Do you have any other hydraulics on the mill now? |
| in 1984 I bought a Delta port. bandsaw mill. It is the type that you lay on the log and move the saw. I beleve 24" cut. I still own it havent used it in all these years. It has 15 hr on it. I lost the manual in the Ivan flood. Cant find a parts house to replace it. can you help? Can it be adapted to your frames? Thank you for your time |
| I've only seen one at a customer’s house in Connecticut. He was an engineer, so I sawed a 10 foot cherry log with a 16hp Woodchuck to show him how to run the mill. The only thing he said when I shut the mill down was "It would have taken me 3 hours to do what you just did in 16 minutes". He was probably in his 70's, and I haven't heard from him in at least 3 years, but that was my only look at the Delta bandmill.
My advice is to throw it in the paper and sell it and up grade now.

| Gary: I purchased your Grizzly 30 about 5 years ago. Enjoying occasional cutting but am interested in changing the guide inserts. How do I get a set and how much? Thanks, Tony Delia |
| Hi Tony, I think I remember you, are you the guy that had the Delta sawmill? Someone asked about one a few weeks ago.
As far as the band guide shoes, just call the factory, 1-800-BANDMILL and tellem what you need. Thanks, Gary |
| ive got a bandmill with 1-1/2x18in wheels the tires are b57 do uble vbelt i ru na 1-1/2in wide blade since ive got new b57s i cant keep the blade on only thing i can figure is the new belts are too soft |
| I don't think that soft belts are the problem. I don't know what brand of bandmill you have but, call Timberwolf bands, I think you'll find them under,
Suffolk Machinery, Corp.
12 Waverly Avenue
Patchogue, NY 11772-1902 Phone: (800) 234-7297
They are the experts in solving problems, and the blades the sell are very good, probably the best in frozen logs, give them a call. Gary

| I need to replace the blade guides on the bobcat 24. Do I get them from you or somebody else? |
| Band Guides are available only at Quality Sawmill, They were developed here by Russ and can be ordered by phone or email. |
| What is the depth and width capacity of cut on the grizzly 36 |
| The Depth of a standard Grizzly 30 0r 36 is 12" We make a Super Grizzly 36 with 25" band wheels that will cut 18 inches deep.
On a good straight log, 38 inches wide can be done but the bandgudes would have to be removed to cut any wider. Not a recomended practice, but I have done it once or twice when making table tops. |
| I also have 25 new and or resharpened blade to go with that bobcat. |
| Call me at 1-800-BADMILL |
| i am interested in a grizzly either a 30 or 36. a good used mill will be ok, would like to visit within the next month on a Friday, i live in Bouckville. Not very far away. thank you Jim |
| I don't get many used mills, they always seem to go to the sons or freinds. Sorry. |
| What would the price of a new Grizzly 25 be? |
| The Grizzly is a 30. It comes with a 23 HP for $10,450.00 But other engine options are availible. I like the 31 HP engine the best, but add $650.00 more. I can have one ready in 5 days. |
| I am setting up a pressed cork board operation and will need a band saw that can cut sheets out of a block of cork that is 36" wide by 10 feet long. I would prefer electric motor drive but could always convert it over from gasoline myself if necessary. Can you provide information on a machine for me? I will need a machine in the next 30-60 days |
| We can custom build it. We need to talk about power feed and what options you would need. Electric is no problem, we need to know your voltage and phase at the site. Call the plant, 1800-woodchuck, ask for Gary
30 days is enough time to build it. |
| does your company have acess to timberharvester parts or will your parts work on a timber harvester mill. parts needed are ignition switch and computer modgule at switch. |
| We can supply you with anything you need for your Timber Harvester. It's too bad, they went out, they build the only mill i would but if I didn't make them. Call 315-339-9900 or 1800Woodchuck |
